ANZAC Day 2019

Northpine Christian College was proud to take part in remembering the sacrifices of Australia’s service members on ANZAC Day last week. On Wednesday 24 April, the entire school gathered in the Sports Centre for an ANZAC Ceremony. School Captains and leaders from the Primary and Secondary Schools spoke. A group of students performed a moving version of “I Am Australian”. Afterwards, Mr Randall New, Vice President of the Pine Rivers RSL, Kallangur Sub Branch, spoke about how the lessons learned in war by veterans can be applied to everyday life to make better citizens. The ceremony closed with the laying of the wreath and a great rendition of “The Last Post” performed by Rowan Gash on the trumpet.

The following morning on ANZAC Day, students from Northpine and many other schools in the area gathered on ANZAC Avenue in Kallangur to participate in the ANZAC March. The march began with a line of classic vehicles driven by veterans, and continued with a long line of proud students. Many of them wore their ancestors’ war medals. Northpine had a strong showing of students from both Primary and Secondary.

Thank you to all the families who supported the school and the memory of Australia’s heroes by being present at these events.
