Careers Expo 2018

Monday, 04/06/2018 Posted by: Marketing

On 11 May, the Year 10 and 12 classes attended the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo in South Bank at Brisbane Convention Centre. The Expo catered for every student and proved to be an efficient and effective opportunity for students to research and speak to a range of tertiary providers about courses and offerings, all under one roof. Whilst some students had a clear picture of the career path they wish to pursue, others relished the opportunity for guidance, comparing a range of courses presented by the exhibitors. A sea of Northpine uniforms lined up to speak to exhibitors, ranging from the defence forces, the big universities and the smaller alternate pathway program providers, in an effort to find out more about where they might find themselves in the future.

During our debrief at the end of day, students were reminded to follow up on their investigations into tertiary pathways.  It is important they continue to share thoughts and discuss their future with friends, family and teachers.  For Year 12 students, their time for decision making is coming quickly, with only a little over six months before they leave Northpine and embark on the next chapter of their academic or working life.  For Year 10, some important decisions regarding subject selection are just around the corner and the expo has provided opportunities for clarification on possible educational journeys.

Whatever pathway being considered, students are encouraged to continue to be proactive and research relevant information for their future.  If students are looking for careers support, they are encouraged to make an appointment with Mr Sheppard who would be pleased to help them with their options.
