Northpine ANZAC Memorial Service

Tuesday, 24/04/2018 Posted by: Marketing

The Northpine ANZAC Memorial Service took place on Tuesday 24 April. The service opened with the National Anthem being sung by a student ensemble. The keynote speaker was Major Kerryn Munday, who served in Iraq and East Timor and is also mother to Northpine Year 6 students, Cody and Jayden. She spoke about a little of the history of Gallipoli and what the ANZACs had to endure. She then told the students how the ANZACs’ sacrifice has made it possible for Australia to exist as it does today.

School Captains Benjamin and Natalia led the wreath laying ceremony, and Junior School Leaders, Tiana and Ryan gave the prayer. After that, Northpine Year 7 student Rowan played bugle call, The Last Post, followed by a minute of silence. He then ended the silence with the bugle call Rouse, while the flag was raised from half-mast.

It was a reflective day, and made many thankful for the ANZAC spirit and sacrifice for this great nation.
