Secondary Swimming Carnival 2018

Monday, 05/02/2018 Posted by: Marketing

It was announced this morning that Stradbroke indeed won the Secondary Swimming Carnival again in 2018 and have started the house championship race in the lead! What an amazing start to the year, with all houses showing a real tenacity to win. Three standout students were Taiha and Taran of Year 10, and Corran of Year 7. Not only did these 3 dominate the pool and win age champion but they were able to secure 5, 4 and 3 new records, respectively, which will hopefully stand for many years to come. Well done to all the age champions for the swimming carnival in 2018. In a couple of weeks those students who performed well will head to our District Carnival Championships to try and secure their place at the state championships in a months’ time.

A special thought must go out to those who valiantly participated in the annual Belly Flop competition. All belly flop competitors seemed to want to join Stradbroke after their legs, arms, torso and faces turned bright red. Well done to Natalia, Year 12, for taking out the open girls and to Taelon, Year 9, who performed 2 perfect jumps—the first a backflip to belly flop and in the final, a front flip to perfectly flat belly flop. Truly courageous, or senseless (you decide) but definitely entertaining!
