The Teacher Feature is meant to highlight our current teachers. We have an amazingly diverse staff and we encourage you to get to know them!

Roger Wareham

  1. Which class or classes do you teach?

Year 11 Maths A and the Student Welfare Coordinator.

  1. How long have you been working at Northpine?

This is my seventh year at Northpine.

  1. Where are you originally from?

I grew up in Victoria before working for ten years in NSW, followed by living in Brisbane.

  1. What are your favourite hobbies?

I enjoy playing basketball, waterskiing and fishing with my family.

  1. If you could meet any historical figure, living or dead, who would you choose and why?

Michael Jordan. Even after having some early knockbacks as a kid he never gave up on what he wanted to become. He has become one of the greatest basketballers of all time because he never gave up, always worked hard and followed his dream.

  1. What’s one great book or movie you’ve read or seen recently?

Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls

  1. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

I have really enjoyed doing road trips to different parts of Australia. In doing so I have come across many beautiful places. A couple of places have been Uluru, Thursday Island, Great Barrier Reef, Great Ocean Road and Fruit Bat Falls.

  1. What is the best advice that you can give to your students?

Just give it a go and give it your best.

I teach classroom Music – Prep to Grade 6

  1. How long have you been working at Northpine?

I started teaching at Northpine in 2013

  1. Where are you originally from?

I am originally from Adelaide, South Africa

  1. What are your favourite hobbies?

I love reading and making music

  1. If you could meet any historical figure, living or dead, who would you choose and why?

Besides Jesus and people from Biblical times, I would love to meet Handel, one of the Baroque era’s greatest composers and inspired composer of the well-known Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

  1. What’s one great book or movie you’ve read or seen recently?

Greyfriars Bobby by Eleanor Atkinson.

  1. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

Mazeppa Bay on the Wild Coast of South Africa

  1. What is the best advice that you can give to your students?

Put God first in all you do. Be honest, be sincere and help others. You are a gift to this world and it’s your responsibility to give something back.  Be the change, make a difference. The words of Micah 6:8 sum it up pretty well – Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
