Year 10 and 11 Study Tour

Thursday, 06/09/2018 Posted by: Marketing

With eighty-eight students, ten teachers and two coaches, the Year 10 and 11 Study Tour was a great experience for all who participated.

The trip began bright and early on Wednesday morning 22 August, when students travelled to Avondale College.  They took part in campus tours, ate in the cafeteria, visited the dorms and began to develop an understanding of what university life is like.

After spending time at Avondale College, the students spent a day at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, and were then hosted by MacArthur College on Saturday morning for church and lunch.  Students then visited Darling Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and Centrepoint Tower.

After experiencing Sydney, students travelled to Canberra where they spent time exploring the Australian War Memorial, Old and New Parliament Houses, AIS and Questacon.

In Canberra, the Year 10 students celebrated their Semi-formal at the Rose Cottage.  They were encouraged to op-shop for their clothing, and prizes were given based on their participation.

The final part of the tour was at Perisher Ski Resort, where many of the students experienced snow for the first time.  The students snowboarded and skied for two days before boarding the bus for the long trip home.

We would like to thank the Australian Government and the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) Program for contributing funding of $60 per eligible student towards meeting the cost of travel expenses.  This program assists in providing increased understanding of the Civics Education in Australia.
