Year 7 Social Media Incursion

Monday, 18/06/2018 Posted by: Marketing

Lucy, the enthusiastic presenter for the Digital Thumbprint Program, visited the Year 7 classes on Friday 1 June and chatted with the students about a topic close to many of their hearts—social media. While Lucy extolled the many positive aspects of these media, she outlined a number of features that we should be wary of and suggested strategies that the wise should employ when using these platforms. Valuable insights were gained into how popular sites work, and how personal information and privacy can be seriously comprised if we use them carelessly. Lucy’s essential message was that protecting personal information, behaving responsibly and staying safe online is important – especially as use of the internet, devices and social media sites increases significantly during the change from Primary to High School.
