ANZAC Day

Thursday, 27/04/2017 Posted by: Marketing

On Monday, 24 April, our school took time to remember those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Corporal Tim Jarvie, a former student and current member of the Australian Defence Force, spoke about what ANZAC Day means to him and his family.

Afterwards, current students Cody and Jayden received medals from the ADF as their mother is currently serving in Iraq. The medals are part of the Military Recognition Program and are Middle East Campaign medals for children that have endured an operational deployment of a parent. The service concluded with our school captains laying a wreath at the base of the flag as the bugle played the “Last Post.”

The following morning was ANZAC Day, and our school participated in the march up ANZAC Avenue in Kallangur. At least 100 of our students were in the march and represented our school with great respect. One of our secondary teachers, Mr Lynden Chester, had the honour of playing the bugle for both the Dawn Service and the Main Service after the parade.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and especially to all current and former ADF members for their service and sacrifice.
