Bullying Free Day at NCC

Monday, 11/03/2019 Posted by: Marketing

In 2018, Northpine Christian College participated in the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. This year the school will again participate in this National Day.

This is an event that takes place in schools across Australia for everyone to get involved in taking action and helping deliver a powerful message that bullying and violence are never okay. In 2019, the theme is “Bullying. No Way! Take action every day”.

Northpine’s staff do a great deal to prevent bullying and protect students, but much more can be achieved if everyone in the school community is involved. Students and families are central to preventing bullying and creating a school climate of respect and inclusion.

The College relays important anti-bullying messages throughout the school year, but on the 15 March 2019 the focus will be on reminding students that bullying of any form is not acceptable.

Research indicates that the most effective way to prevent bullying is to develop a ‘whole school approach’ to deal with this issue. This is exactly what the Year 12 students from Northpine Christian College challenged the Middle/Senior students to do. They empowered students to take responsibility to disarm bullying, become a collective voice and encourage students to be kind and thoughtful. Mr Jaco Tams, Secondary School Deputy Principal, said, “It is great to see the students wearing their bracelets and demonstrating their commitment to make a difference”.

Students were encouraged to sign their name to a canvas to signify their pledge of continuing to make the school a safe, fun and educational environment for all in attendance. With this pledge the students were given a bracelet stating “Bullying-Free NCC”.

Please join Northpine Christian College by celebrating cultural diversity and encourage children to be inclusive, to respect one another and to create a sense of belonging for everyone.

Your support in promoting this very important message is greatly appreciated.
