Our senior boys Rugby League Team “Northpine Sharks” played their first game in the College Cup on Tuesday. College Cup is a development Rugby League competition with schools in our district – Mueller College, Australian Trade College, Southern Cross High School & Grace Lutheran College.
We played Southern Cross. It was a very tight game with excellent defence from Northpine with only 1 sub, however Northpine came away with a loss. Morgan (Sharks Captain & Year 12 student) was our only try, however, there were several exciting attempts at more tries.
Boston (Year 12) had the furthest breakaway only coming up short inches before the try line. Excellent takes from Huon (Year 11) and Eddie (Year 12) who also had a number of good plays. High tackle counts for Joseph (Year 12), Eugene (Year 12), Joshua (Year 12) and Isaac (Year 12). The newest to the team, Jake (Year 10) also showed excellent skill in the centre with some steps & tireless support in tackles.
Thank you to Levi Trivett (2015 Year 12 graduate) who is now in his second season of coaching the team – he has really brought the team together & inspired them to play for each other.
Parents and students are most welcome to come and support the boys in their remaining games (with their own transport and parent supervision). The Sharks now play every Tuesday at 3.45pm in Talobilla Park, Kippa Ring. They play Australian Trade College next week.
