Councillor Sims Visits Northpine

Tuesday, 04/12/2018 Posted by: Marketing

Monday 27 November began with a special visit from Councillor Denise Sims from Moreton Bay Regional Council.  She presented certificates to students, Genevieve Dennis and Amy Wiggill, who completed their Premier’s Reading Challenge earlier this year. Councillor Sims shared with the Middle and Senior school students about the value of reading and spoke of a book that changed her life.

While here, Councillor Sims also visited the teachers of our winning classes who had 100% of their students reaching their reading goals for the PRC. For their great effort, these classes each received a monetary prize donated by Councillor Sims and Moreton Bay Regional Council. Our runners-up prize went to 6C, who used their prize money to purchase food items which were donated to ADRA to help needy people in the community. She visited with some of our Infant students, finding out about their favourite books, and congratulated Faith Luck and Abigail Wong from 1A for their outstanding efforts in reading over 140 books each in the PRC.

Well done to all our students who achieved their reading goals during the Challenge, and especially those who continue to read all year round.

Mrs Carseldine and Mrs Mamata wish you all a happy, safe and blessed Christmas.
