Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awardee

Northpine Christian College is proud to have a Year 12 student, Ryan Boughen, complete the Gold Award for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.  He has been invited to attend the Gold Award Ceremony at City Hall Brisbane on Friday 25 June 2021.  The awards will be presented by The Duke’s representative, the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland.

The Gold Level Award requires dedicated commitment for at least 12 months in the areas of Service, Skill and Physical Recreation.  Participants must also complete an Adventurous Journey that is at least four days and three nights in length and a Residential Project (service orientated project) that is five days and four nights in length.  Ryan’s Gold journey is outlined below.

Physical Recreation: Cycling

Skill: Learning to drive

Service: Chapel Band

Adventurous Journey: Bushwalking (Tramping in NZ)- Cascade Saddle, South Island, New Zealand.

Residential Project: SummerFest Youth Camp (Camp Somerset) – Cabin Leader.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is recognised in 144 countries worldwide and is highly regarded by employers and the community. It is a Youth Excellence Award that develops youth holistically in the areas of Physical, Skills, Community Service and Adventurous Journey. Northpine Christian College is proud to deliver The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. This Award is open to youth between the ages of 14 to 25 in the levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold.
