Book Character Parade – Infant / Junior School

A Book Week Character Parade involving our Infant/Junior school has been planned for Friday, 16 October.

The Infants (Prep –Yr 2) costume parade will begin at 8:55am in the PA Centre and the Junior classes (Yr 3-6) costume parade will be held in the same venue directly after, at 9:50am. Unfortunately, the current Queensland Government COVID- 19 restrictions do not permit parents to attend this event.  We will however have photos for you to enjoy.

We would encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character. As this is a fundraising event for our Library Resource Centre, students need to bring a gold coin donation. No prizes will be awarded for the costumes as the book character parade will be held just for fun. Those who are not able to come dressed as a book character, but still wish to support the event, may come dressed in mufti clothing and the same gold coin donation will apply.

Please remember that the event is for book characters, not comic characters such as superheroes. In the past we have had some students arrive at school dressed as superheroes and, unfortunately, their actions on the day have emulated these characters.  For this reason we would strongly discourage this.

We would also like to uphold the Christian ethos of our school, by reminding you that supernatural themes such as ghosts, witches, Harry Potter type characters, etc would not be acceptable.

There are however hundreds of book characters the students could come dressed as and we would encourage students and parents to be creative in their efforts. Students who wish to bring along the book about their character are encouraged to do so and the teachers will be able to care for these books until the time of the parade if needed.
