Showjumping in Year 8

Thursday, 15/02/2018 Posted by: Marketing

Jasmine Jensen, Year 8, is an up and coming young showjumper and was the 2017 12&U Showjumping Champion for Burpengary Pony Club and also for her region of Zone 26. She has been riding horses since she was a baby and showjumping from the age of five. Jasmine practises every day for an hour, and competes in showjumping and dressage on most weekends.

Jasmine has a bright future with her showjumping horse JFK. Jasmine has recently been given the opportunity to train with the Sydney 2000 Olympic Silver medalist Albert Voorn from the Netherlands. Albert is regarded as a living legend in Europe after winning many Grand Prix events throughout the world. Jasmine says, “It is cool to train with an Olympian. I also want to compete in the Olympics when I’m old enough.” Jasmine doesn’t only have hopes for the Olympics, but for a career as well. She is already helping coach other young athletes.

Jasmine has two younger sisters who also compete. Her younger sister, Isla, is already learning to showjump. Her other sister Ava, Year 4, is very competitive. Jasmine is glad that she is thirteen now, so she doesn’t have to compete against Ava anymore because, “Ava sometimes beats me.” Northpine is proud of Jasmine’s accomplishments and wishes her the best on her journey to become a professional showjumper.
