The Teacher Feature is meant to highlight two of our current teachers. We have an amazingly diverse staff and we encourage you to get to know them!

  1. What class or classes do you teach?

I teach Visual Arts from Year 7 – 12.

  1. How long have you been working at Northpine?

This is my third year at Northpine.

  1. How did you first discover you wanted to be a teacher?

I’ve always done a variety of “teaching” jobs but only realized the calling as a ministry after a trip to China in 2007.

  1. Where are you originally from?

I grew up in South Africa but lived in Geelong for the majority of my time in Australia.

  1. What might we be surprised to know about you?

I played trumpet for Queen Elizabeth on a particular visit to Melbourne.

  1. If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

I’d travel back in time to my early 20’s to enjoy travelling the world all over again.

  1. What’s one great book or movie you’ve read or seen recently?

The Heavenly Man, a novel telling a true story about faith and strength.

  1. Which person, directly or indirectly, has inspired you the most?

One of my favorite artists and greatest colourist of the 20th century art world, Henri Matisse, has always inspired me, especially when I am challenged to be innovative.

  1. What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

I’ve seen many beautiful places, but I could never forget the untouched beauty, the vastness of the sand dunes, and harsh contrasts of desert and ocean in Namib Desert, Namibia.

  1. What is the best advice that you can give to your students?

Do ordinary things in extraordinary ways and BE your best even when you think no one is watching.

Year 2.

  1. How long have you been working at Northpine?

6 years.

  1. How did you first discover you wanted to be a teacher?

Helping with a Storm Co while in high school.

  1. Where are you originally from?

Western Australia.

  1. What might we be surprised to know about you?

I lived and taught at a high school in Cambodia.

  1. If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

Time of Jesus – see his miracles, like when he raised a little girl from the dead.

  1. What’s one great book or movie you’ve read or seen recently?

  1. Which person, directly or indirectly, has inspired you the most?

My husband – Justin Fraser

  1. What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

Great Keppel Island – snorkeling was beautiful!

  1. What is the best advice that you can give to your students?

Spend time with Jesus every day – talk to Him and read about Him so you can know Him better.  Ask Him what he has planned for your life and trust Him.
