Where Are They Now? – Tarquin, Class of ’09

Wednesday, 22/08/2018 Posted by: Marketing

As part of our latest Alumni Newsletter, Tarquin was kind enough to fill us in on what he has been doing since his time at Northpine. He is coming up on his 10 year mark next year.

Northpine (Brisbane North Adventist College, or BNAC, as it was for my first years), provided for me the perfect space in which to learn and grow in a Christian environment such that I have now realised the goals of my adolescence.

In 2010, my first year out of school, I took an appointment at the Royal Australian Air Force as an Officer Cadet and marched out of No 1 Recruit Training Unit. I graduated from RAAF College’s Officers Training School at Point Cook, VIC in September 2010. Thereafter I enjoyed a posting as a clerk to the legal office of No. 84/86 Wing Headquarters in Richmond NSW.

At the end of my appointment I returned to Brisbane and read Laws at Griffith Law School. While a student I worked as a researcher for a building and fire safety company. Once I graduated I undertook the mandatory Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law Brisbane, and took a job in the chambers of Barrister, Mr Ian Callinan AC, a former puisne judge of the High Court of Australia.

In 2016, I began working for Crown Law, the Crown Solicitor for Queensland’s extended practice unit, as a law clerk within the Administrative Law team. I completed my Diploma and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia as a lawyer. In 2017, I moved to the Commercial Dispute Resolution team as a lawyer, and proposed to Marelice, my wonderful girlfriend of three years. We bought our house in leafy Narangba in December 2017.

Presently, I work in the Administrative Law team again, and am looking forward to my nuptials in November. I am currently reading for a Master of Laws Degree at the University of Queensland.

I’m proud to be an Old Northpinian, and regularly wear my striped school tie to court, social events and work. I understand that the colours have changed since then, but am happy to tell anyone who asks about my excellent schooling at a small independent country school in Dakabin.
