Over the weekend of 4-6 May, Northpine Students Benjamin Holmlund (Year 12), and Sam Holmlund (Year 8) competed at the 2018 North Queensland Games. They competed in the sport of BMX Racing at Sarina BMX Club.

Ben raced in a higher age class in 25+ Men. He was guaranteed a finalist medallion for making the top 8 as there were only 7 in his class. Ben didn’t want to settle for a finalist medallion—he raced hard and fast and ended up on the podium with a Bronze Medal.

Sam had 12 in his class (13 year old boys). He had to work really hard to qualify for the final but he did it! He made the final and finished 8th but that was the goal he set—a finalist medallion.
