Northpine Martial Arts Prodigy

On Sunday 11 March, Jake of Year 6 competed in the National All Styles Martial Arts Tournament in Runaway Bay. He achieved Bronze in Individual Forms and Bronze in Sparring. Jake did very well, competing against opponents up to three belt levels higher than himself, from seven other martial art styles

Jake then competed in the Region 11 GKR International Karate Tournament in Belmont and achieved Gold in Kumite and Silver in Individual Kata.

Jake started karate when he was four years old and has represented Queensland on a number of occasions and represented Australia in 2016. He trains up to four times a week and is on the state team, training at Belmont every Sunday. On top of this, he plays for the Narangba Rangers Rugby League Team and trains twice a week, competing on Sunday mornings.
